COUNSELLING
Lucy is now solely practicing at GrayMind Psychology in Paddington, Brisbane. Individual therapy sessions are offered face to face or online to adolescents and adults.
approach
Lucy strives to support individuals to navigate challenges and move toward a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling and authentically their own. She weaves evidence-based practices into relaxed conversation, creating a safe and non-judgemental space for her clients to share and reflect.
Lucy draws upon a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Strategies and Skills Development.
Lucy’s career experience working in refugee resettlement, homelessness, eating disorders and youth work has led her to develop a particular interest in trauma, and she works from a strongly trauma-informed approach.
PHILOSOPHY
Lucy acknowledges the common misconception that says people need to be in crisis prior to seeking out mental health support. Many feel that their problems aren't ‘big enough’ to deserve or warrant getting help.
But life can be messy and challenging for us all, and we don’t need to face it alone. Whether you have a diagnosed mental health condition or not, there are many reasons that counselling may be of benefit to you:
You are under high levels of stress
You are navigating life changes or transitions
You are feeling overwhelmed, sad, lonely or anxious
You are struggling in your relationships
You are relying on unhealthy behaviours to cope
You just need someone to talk to
Areas of interest
Eating disorders & body image issues
Perinatal mental health
Anxiety & depression
Panic disorder & panic attacks
Relationship & family issues
Self-esteem & identity
PTSD & Trauma
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) Lucy specialises in clinical social work practice. AMHSWs are accredited through the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). They are also registered providers with Medicare Australia, so rebates are available for counselling sessions with a valid Mental Health or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan.
AMHSWs have experience in assessing and treating mental health conditions and helping individuals improve their quality of life. Social workers recognise the broader implications that mental health can have on friends, family, work and education.
AMHSWs are highly trained professionals, meeting some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia.
ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician
An ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician is a healthcare professional who has been officially recognised by the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) for their specialised knowledge, skills, and expertise in the treatment of eating disorders.
Lucy has undergone specific training and education related to supporting individuals with eating disorders, eating issues and body image concerns. She has a passion for working in this space and has years of clinical experience.
